Our history
We are Aurélie and Slim, a Franco-Tunisian couple from Lyon (France), passionate about the history and handicraft of Maghreb. Because we believe in the value of this craftsmanship , we are forging links between the two shores of the Mediterranean in order to promote this art of a thousand colors. In our modest measure, we are proud to contribute to perpetuate this craft which tends to disappear.
In this perspective, we founded the site Sajada.fr in 2010 and we have satisfied several thousand of customers during 10 years. The idea of finding buyers for those rugs full of life woven by craftswomen from remote villages of southern Tunisia was our first motivation.
Chwaya today
Ten years later, we are launching the site Chwaya.com in order to promote our products beyond French borders. We are continuing our work with the aim of finding unique pieces for our customers in the most remote places of the world.
Today, we are working in close collaboration with craftswomen from Tunisia and Morocco selected for their perfect knowledge of their craft. We are selecting our pieces individually from thousands of rugs according to rigorous criteria including the quality of weaving, wool, colors and finish.
